Two-day event scheduled for Washington Avenue

(ENDICOTT, NY) – The holiday season will kick off in Endicott with the return of a two-day event to Washington Avenue. The second annual Holiday Magic on the Avenue is scheduled for Friday, November 30th; the 79th Endicott Holiday Parade will follow the next day.

Festivities begin at 5:00 PM Friday when Washington Avenue will be lit for the season. Afterwards, visitors can once again enjoy live entertainment, holiday music, food and drinks, a fire juggler, “North Pole” ponies courtesy of the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, a visit from Santa Claus. New to this year’s event will be cookie decorating with Mrs. Claus, and 3-D printed holiday crafts. There will also be a Pet Costume Contest; dress your pet in their best holiday outfit for a chance to win “Best in Show.” The winning animal will have the opportunity to be featured in Saturday’s Holiday Parade. The evening will conclude with a fireworks show at 7:30. A full schedule of Friday’s activities is below.

On Saturday, an annual holiday tradition returns to Washington Avenue with the 79th Endicott Holiday Parade at 11:00 AM. The procession will be led by Bob and Connie Gault as parade marshals; the business owners are being recognized for their ongoing support of the annual event. Bands, service groups, scout troops, and floats will also be featured. Santa Claus will return as well to officially usher in the holidays. Children and their families can follow Santa to the Endicott Fire Station for photos and free hot cocoa and cookies.

  • Street lighting – 5:00 outside EPAC, 102 Washington Avenue
  • Visit with Santa Claus – 5:30 – 7:15, Rent-a-Center, 42 Washington Avenue
  • Cookie Decorating with Mrs. Claus – 5:30 – 7:15, Phantom Chef, 49 Washington Avenue
  • Entertainment with DJ Maurice Taylor – 5:30 – 7:30, outside EPAC, 102 Washington Avenue
  • Marble Art – 5:30 – 7:15, Equinox Press, 14 Washington Avenue
  • Pet costume contest – 6:30, outside EPAC, 102 Washington Avenue
  • Fireworks on the Avenue – 7:30

Other activities that will be taking place throughout the Avenue: 3-D snowflake printing with BOCES, free donuts and hot chocolate, fire juggler, North Pole Ponies courtesy of the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, Union-Endicott instrument ensemble, Union-Endicott vocal ensemble, live music from Friday at Fred’s, food and drink specials from Avenue restaurants, and businesses on the Avenue will be open throughout the evening. A shuttle from BC Transit Trolley will also be available throughout the evening to bring visitors to the Christmas Market at George W. Johnson Park.
