Lupardo recognized by CHOW for securing major grant

(BINGHAMTON, NY) – At its warehouse in Binghamton Thursday, representatives from the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse (CHOW) recognized Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo for her role in securing a major grant for the non-profit.

CHOW received a $25,000 Assembly grant through Lupardo’s office which will help provide 75-100 thousand meals throughout the community. The group’s director says this money was crucial for the pantry during the busy holiday season.

“The end of the year is always a busy time for us and we do our best to help feed those who need it,” said Mike Leahey, Director of CHOW. “This grant was huge in making sure our shelves were restocked following the high demand during the holidays, and we want to thank Assemblywoman Lupardo for her continued support.”

“The number of people in our community who need food assistance is truly overwhelming” Lupardo said. “I’m glad we were able to secure this grant so that CHOW can continue providing this critically important service.”

CHOW is in its 40th year of providing food for local families. Donations of food can be made Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM at its warehouse at 3 Otseningo St. in Binghamton. Large donations of food can be picked up by one of our trucks. Call 607-724-9130 or e-mail mail@broomecouncil.net for more information.
