When their daughter Danielle was struck by a drunk driver in 1989, Diane & Tony Stento were amazed by the generosity of strangers who opened their doors to them when they traveled to Buffalo to be with Danielle. Three and a half hours away from their home, family, and friends, the Stentos relied on the kindness of others for a place to stay. The family wanted to return that favor in their own community, and in 2002, opened Danielle House, a home away from home for families traveling to Binghamton to be with their loved ones who are receiving local medical care. Assemblywoman Lupardo secured a $125,000 Assembly grant to help expand the Danielle House, which now serves hundreds of visitors each year.
