Anyone who lives, works, or visits Downtown Binghamton knows that outdoor public leisure space is at a premium. The area around the historic Broome County Courthouse does offer some green space, but had few options for sitting. Assemblywoman Lupardo secured a $25,000 Assembly grant which was used to remodel the area between the old courthouse, and the new one on Hawley St. Tables, chairs, and benches were installed to create the courthouse plaza, an intimate area for residents, employees, and visitors to sit, relax, and have lunch. Its location allows you to take in the fresh air while also admiring the historic beauty of the courthouse and other nearby landmarks.
